 "DISCOURSE"GLOBAL LITERATURE MGAZINE

TITLE: HERITAGE

Poet:Frosina Tasevska

(North Mecedonia)

I will leave my words to you

that fragmented heritage

just like a seed sown in a pot.

Afterward, its meaning to be

secretly interpreted by you,

so they will touch you in my absence.

Come to me with a signature

under the stones with buried echoes,

under the family tree on our last goodbye.

Spoken words without any witnesses

will haunt you for a long time.

And is it necessary if the words are gone!?

Does it matter if the meaning of each other words

has been misunderstood

from the overwhelming excitement!?

I bring my hands closer with a magnifying glass

in anticipation of melted mercy.

I created a new alphabet from my missed words

in a presence to understand them,

in my absence to pass them.

A REVIEW OF THE POEM BY THE EDITOR

Interpreting Fragments: Legacy Poem

In the poem "Heritage" by Frosina Tasevska, the poet employs intricate language and craft to convey a profound meaning. The poem centers on the idea of leaving behind a legacy of words that hold a fragmented heritage, akin to a seed planted in a pot. The language is evocative, as the poet uses the metaphor of a seed to represent the potential for growth and interpretation.
Tasevska invites the reader to interpret the words secretly, suggesting an intimate and personal connection between the reader and the poet's intention. The imagery of a "signature" under stones with buried echoes and the family tree adds layers of depth, underscoring the importance of memory and connection to one's roots. The mention of "spoken words without any witnesses" haunting the reader emphasizes the lingering impact of words even when no one is present to hear them.

The poet questions the necessity of words once they are gone and whether it matters if their meanings have been misunderstood due to overwhelming excitement. This reflects on the ephemeral nature of language and communication, highlighting the potential for both connection and misinterpretation.
The stanza where the poet brings her hands closer with a magnifying glass adds a tactile and visual element to the poem. It conveys the sense of intense examination and scrutiny, emphasizing the poet's desire for her words to be understood in her presence and passed on in her absence.
Frosina Tasevska's use of language, metaphor, and imagery creates a multi-layered work that explores the intricacies of communication, memory, and legacy. The poem beautifully captures the interplay between the written word, personal interpretation, and the lasting impact of language, making it a thought-provoking piece that invites readers to reflect on their own relationship with heritage and expression.
